The career of a sport horse is demanding with regular training and competitions through-out the season. The long training sessions and competitions can be hard work on the horse, but at Bourton Vale Equine Clinic we have a highly experienced and knowledgeable team to help keep them on top of the game.
Bourton Vale Equine Clinic have a large number of clients who compete at all levels from low levels up to Olympians in a variety of equestrian disciplines including eventing, show jumping, dressage, showing, driving and endurance.
They understand the workload and physical demands in relation to competitive equine sports, working alongside horse, rider and owner to maintain and maximise the optimum health and performance of the horse.
With this in mind BVEC can deliver a diagnosis and evidence based treatment and prognosis for horses on site and if necessary at the clinic.
With mobile diagnostic equipment at hand and with the facilities at the clinic, we can use analgesics (nerve blocks), mobile digital radiography and ultrasonography. Where more advanced diagnostics are required for more complex or high-value cases, we are able to perform nuclear scintigraphy (bone scan) and MRI imaging to pinpoint the exact causes of the majority of poor performance issues. Airway disease and equine gastric ulcer syndrome (EGUS) are other causes of reduced performance, and we can perform endoscopic examinations at yards.
